Summer Season 2026 in Sopot - the summary

Sopot Pier, the city’s iconic tourist landmark, was visited by nearly 714,000 people over the past three months. During the same period, more than 87,000 spectators attended concerts at the Forest Opera. Despite the unpredictable weather this summer, visitors were not deterred. Sopot’s seaside location and wide range of cultural attractions drew tourists from 132 countries, as well as visitors from many regions of Poland.

Despite the unpredictable summer weather, average hotel occupancy in Sopot remained very high, reaching 85% in June, 87% in July and 90% in August.

Thanks to the continued cooperation between the Sopot Tourist Organization and Visa, one of the world’s leading digital payment companies, we know that in June and July, payment card transactions in Sopot were made by visitors from 132 countries.

In terms of spending value, the highest-spending international visitors in June were from Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Sweden. In July, the top five were Norway, Germany, the United States, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

During the period analysed, international tourists made Visa card transactions in Sopot worth a total of more than PLN 30 million.
  • Among domestic visitors, the highest spending in June was recorded among residents of Gdańsk, Warsaw, Gdynia, Wrocław and Poznań.
  • In July, the highest spending came from residents of Gdańsk, Warsaw, Gdynia, Kraków and Łódź.
The total value of Visa card transactions made in Sopot by domestic tourists and visitors exceeded PLN 112 million during this period.

Tourist Information

More than 13,000 people used the services of the two Tourist Information offices operated by the Sopot Tourist Organization, located at 2 Zdrojowy Square and 4 Dworcowa Street. The offices were open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Approximately 2,000 Tourist Cards were issued, while the luggage storage service available at both locations handled around 1,500 pieces of luggage.
  • TOP 5 international tourists and visitors using Tourist Information services: Czechs, Germans, Swedes, Norwegians and Britons. International tourists and visitors accounted for 45% of all traffic at the Tourist Information offices.
  • TOP 5 Polish regions from which domestic tourists and visitors using Tourist Information services came: Mazowieckie, Pomeranian, Silesian, Greater Poland and Lower Silesian Voivodeships.
Domestic tourists and visitors accounted for 55% of all traffic at the Tourist Information offices.

Spa Fee

Between 1 June and 28 August 2026, the city collected PLN 1,940,813 in spa fees. In the same period last year, the amount was PLN 1,753,922.A spa fee of PLN 6.67 per person per night is charged to every person staying overnight in Sopot. Payment of the fee entitles visitors to receive a free Tourist Card, which provides access to a range of discounts.

The spa fee rates were:
  • 2023 – PLN 5.20
  • 2024 – PLN 6.20
  • 2025 – PLN 6.38
  • 2026 – PLN 6.67
Support for the Tourism and Hospitality Industry

A total of 20,000 placemats featuring calendars of cultural and sporting events taking place in July and August, as well as placemats promoting the “Tourist, Respect Sopot” campaign, were distributed to restaurants and accommodation establishments.

Social and Educational Campaigns

The city continued its “Stop Naked People on the Streets”, “Tourist, Respect Sopot” and “React” campaigns.

Posters were displayed throughout the city, while short videos presenting guidelines for appropriate behaviour were shown on social media, at Tourist Information offices and before screenings at the Summer Cinema.

The new “Sopot – Attractions Within 15 Minutes of the City Centre” campaign encouraged visitors to explore the city on foot or by bicycle. Large-format graphics were displayed on changing facilities near Sopot beach and on city information cubes.

“Sopot – Safe Beach” was a campaign focused on the safety of the youngest beachgoers. As every year, lifeguards distributed wristbands on the beach on which parents could write their telephone number. The aim of the campaign is to help quickly reunite children who become separated from their parents or guardians on the beach. A total of 15,000 wristbands were distributed to the Voluntary Water Rescue Service (WOPR), Municipal Police, Police, Tourist Information offices and businesses operating along the seaside promenade.
