Sunday at the Hippodrome: Sporting Thrills and a Major Victory in the LOTTO Grand Prix

Sunday at the Sopot Hippodrome marked the culmination of an intense week of top-level sporting competition. The final day of LOTTO CSIO Sopot delivered everything spectators could expect from world-class equestrian sport – dramatic margins, elegant show jumping, and a relaxed picnic atmosphere that attracted entire families.

​A Dynamic Start to the Day

Sunday’s competition began with the morning Sopocki Klub Jeździecki Cup, held under the patronage of Trojmiasto.pl. From the very beginning, it was clear that the riders had no intention of holding back. The competition was fiercely contested, with an exceptionally even level of performance throughout the field.In the end, victory was decided by remarkable precision and fractions of a second. Just 0.06 seconds separated the winner, Piotr Kowalski, from runner-up Anna Korus. Jacqueline Sadowska completed the podium in third place.

A Sopot Highlight in the CSI1* Grand Prix

The excitement continued throughout the day, with the CSI1* Grand Prix for the Sopot Tourism Organisation Cup, held under the patronage of TVP Sport, serving as another key event on the programme.The competition was won by Lithuania’s Matas Petraitis riding Casaltina. Second place went to Weronika Wilska-Czarnecka aboard Conlourietta Blue PS. It is worth noting that Weronika is a rider for Sopocki Klub Jeździecki, making her result a particular source of pride for the local audience. Sweden’s Marcus Westergren completed the podium in third place.



The Grand Finale: LOTTO Grand Prix

The highlight of the entire week was the eagerly anticipated LOTTO Grand Prix, with a total prize fund of €105,500. A total of 50 of the week’s best horse-and-rider combinations earned the right to compete after securing qualification in earlier classes. The grandstands were filled to capacity as enthusiastic spectators cheered on their favourite riders throughout the competition. Only 13 combinations advanced to the decisive second round after successfully negotiating the highly demanding course. Ultimately, victory went to Billy Twomey (IRL) riding ACE OF HEARTS Z. The Irish rider demonstrated exceptional composure and precision, completing the second round in 41.62 seconds and securing the top prize of €26,375.The remaining podium places went to:
  •  2nd place: Roberto Previtali (ITA) riding QUIRINUS 27 (42.63 seconds; prize money: €21,100)
  •  3rd place: Ricardo Benzinho Karle Da Costa (POR) riding KIROCCO (43.05 seconds; prize money: €15,825)
Sopot: More Than Just Sport

LOTTO CSIO Sopot is not only about competition in the arena; it also offers an open and welcoming space for families. A picnic zone featuring a variety of food trucks provided visitors with the opportunity to relax and enjoy refreshments throughout the day.The youngest guests enjoyed a programme packed with outdoor games and activities, hobby horse competitions, and highly popular dog agility demonstrations. The event was complemented by an Expo zone, where visitors could explore a wide range of attractions and exhibitors.We hope that this year’s sporting action created unforgettable memories for fans and inspired them to continue following the exciting world of equestrian sport. Once again, LOTTO CSIO Sopot proved that it is a place where elite sport meets a unique atmosphere, creating experiences that will remain with us for a long time.
