Agata Kus's New Exhibition, Promises, at the State Art Gallery in Sopot

We warmly invite you to the opening of Promises, a new exhibition by Agata Kus, at the State Art Gallery in Sopot, taking place on 3 July 2026 at 6:00 pm.

Agata Kus is one of the most acclaimed artists of the younger generation on the international contemporary art scene.

Working within and beyond the tradition of painting, Kus continually experiments with the medium. Drawing on figurative art, she expands the boundaries of realism through a wide range of formal approaches. Her practice balances seriousness, sublimity, and popular culture, transforming the image into a visual bon mot—a witty anecdote that often becomes a perceptive exploration of desires, fantasies, and imagination.

Among the central themes in Kus's work are childhood and adolescence, understood as formative experiences that shape the choices, decisions, and ways of seeing that define human life.

The exhibition Promises at the State Art Gallery in Sopot revolves around the ideas of promises and wishes—both fulfilled and unfulfilled. Alongside paintings, including a selection of new works, the exhibition will also feature drawings, among them large-scale pastel works created especially for this presentation.
