The Sea Planet series of meetings at the State Art Gallery

We invite you to another meeting in the Sea Planet series, the central theme of which will be respiration, understood individually – as carried out by organisms living in the sea – and holistically – as the sum of ecosystem processes, sometimes compared to the body.

Artist Dobrawa Borkała and marine biologist Dr. Halina Kendzierska from the Faculty of Oceanography of the University of Gdańsk will discuss the natural, artistic, and other aspects of respiration and water in the Down Deep: Living Seas, Living Bodies exhibition.Movement, respiration, growth, and sensation are among the fundamental characteristics of living organisms.
In this perspective, the sea is an organism, the community of all the organisms that inhabit it, creating an aquatic, living body.

Scientists from the Institute of Oceanography of the Polish Academy of Sciences, artists, and representatives of other scientific fields will confront this interpretation.
