This season, half marathons will be held throughout the Tricity: in Gdynia on April 25, in Gdańsk on September 27, and the season will end with the Sopot Half Marathon on October 25. Today we learned the details of this event, which is prepared by the Energy Events agency known, among others, from the organization of the Gdańsk Marathon.
– For years, we have been consistently building the image of Sopot as an active city, open to sports and recreation. We organize 5 km runs, the Sopot Independence Run, and the half-marathon is a response to the real needs of runners and the next stage in the development of our sports offer - said Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, president of Sopot.
The Sopot Half Marathon will start on October 25 at 9:00 in front of the Ergo Arena, while the finish line will be inside the facility, a bit like the Łódź Marathon and the Cracovia Royal Half Marathon, whose participants finish inside the Atlas Arena and TAURON Arena, respectively.
– The finish line in the hall is not only an impressive end to the race, but above all a real convenience for the competitors. Showers, a regenerative meal, a warm and dry place to change - these are the standards we will provide to each participant, regardless of the weather - emphasized Grażyna Dobrzyńska, director of MOSiR Sopot.
They will run to the rhythm of the city
The route of the race will lead through the most recognizable parts of Sopot, including Władysława Łokietka, Bitwy pod Płowcami, Grunwaldzka, Aleja Franciszka Mamuszki and Aleja Wojska Polskiego. It will be certified by the Polish Athletics Association.
– When designing the route, we wanted it to be fast, but at the same time visually attractive. The event is held under the slogan "Run to the rhythm of the city!" and the course of the route will allow you to feel the atmosphere of Sopot and get to know its most characteristic places from a completely different perspective - said Adam Greczyło from Energy Events.
In the main race, there will be a general classification for women and men (OPEN), and the best competitors will receive Swiss brand watches. The competition will also take place in numerous age categories and additional classifications, such as the best resident of Sopot or the best debutant.
