Invitation to the concert – In Love with Song

In May, everything blossoms anew — including love, especially when it blooms on the pier in Sopot. It is here, in springtime, that lovers stroll along the seaside, and it is here that some of the most beautiful love songs were created.

Musical emotions by the Sopot sea have accompanied us since 1956, when Leopold Tyrmand and Stefan Kisielewski inaugurated the 1st National Jazz Music Festival in Sopot on the pier. This year marks the 70th anniversary of that event, which is why you will hear songs inspired by the finest traditions of Polish popular music, jazz, and mainstream entertainment.

In Love with Song is more than just a concert. It is an intimate journey through the most beautiful Polish songs that have resonated in Sopot for 70 years. In the picturesque setting of the Sopot Pier — a place doubly symbolic, as it is frequented both by artists and musicians, as well as lovers from all corners of Poland — we will tell, through words and music, the oldest story in the world, written into songs sung by generations. The story of many a love, as familiar as the refrains of beloved Polish songs, will be performed solo and in duets by:

  • Natalia Przybysz
  • Sławomir Uniatowski
  • Ania Rusowicz
  • Natalia Muianga
  • Ewelina Flinta
  • Kacper Andrzejewski
  • Maciej Zakościelny

Hosted by Filip Gurłacz, who will also perform as a vocalist. They will be accompanied by a live band led by the renowned pianist and arranger Rafał Stępień, whose specially prepared arrangements pay tribute to the legends of Polish song and the concert traditions of the Sopot pier.Beautiful vocal parts, well-known refrains, and a captivating display of top-level instrumental skill will be delivered by a nonet:

  • Rafał Stępień – piano
  • Paweł Puszczało – double bass, bass guitar
  • Maciej Mąka – guitars
  • Maciek Starnawski – backing vocals, guitar, keyboards
  • Bartek Pająk – percussion
  • Igor Falecki – drums (known for performances with Jimk)
  • Ignacy Wendt – trumpet
  • Wiktor Wysocki – saxophone
  • Michał Daszkiewicz – trombone
Because for 70 years on the Sopot pier, we have all been In Love with Song. A minimalist stage design focusing on the stunning spectacle of the sea and sky, the setting sun, and the intimate atmosphere of the pier — combined with close-up shots of musicians and soloists, the search for emotion, capturing the audience’s reactions in slow motion, and the use of cinematic optics — will help us immerse ourselves in the spirit of Sopot and the atmosphere of years gone by.When?
