New exhibitions at the State Gallery of Art in Sopot
Marcin Janusz – “Storm”
Duration: 12.06–16.08.2026
Curator: Anna Klocek–Wojtaszek

“Storm” is a dreamlike, multi-layered narrative about a world in constant flux—perpetually losing and regaining balance. Janusz treats nature not as a backdrop but as a driving force and a metaphor for contemporary anxieties, from personal emotions to climate crisis and migration. He boldly experiments with unconventional materials, creating so-called “image bodies” using sugar, resin, and earth. Visitors are guided through three symbolic realms: water, ice, and desert heat.
Xawery Wolski – “On the Road”
Duration: 12.06–23.08.2026
Curator: Eulalia Domanowska

This exhibition presents the extensive body of work of one of Poland’s most important contemporary sculptors. “On the Road” traces over 35 years of the artist’s journey across continents—from Europe through Peru and Mexico to Asia—which has shaped his unique artistic language. The exhibition features sculptures, spatial objects, and drawings created from the 1980s to the present, including intricate chains, mandalas, anthropomorphic figures, and the monumental Carrara marble sculpture Boomerang, symbolizing the artist’s return to Poland.
