As part of the anniversary edition of the Sopot Jazz Festival, the stage at Mamuszki 14 will host one of the most fascinating figures of the contemporary guitar scene. Marc Ribot—an artist who moves with equal ease between gritty No Wave, Latin rhythms, and jazz improvisation—will arrive in Sopot on May 6 with his latest project, Hurry Red Telephone.
 

Ribot is a musician who “stopped playing the way one is supposed to” decades ago, choosing authenticity over academic correctness. On the stage at Mamuszki 14, he will be joined by his long-time collaborators: drummer Chad Taylor and bassist Sebastian Steinberg. The quartet is completed by saxophonist Briggan Krauss, bringing a new, raw energy to the band’s sound—an energy the group developed during their European tour.

The Marc Ribot Quartet concert is a highlight of the festival program not to be missed—a moment when jazz tradition meets the New York “here and now.” This is living music, constantly searching for new paths. The choice of Mamuszki 14 as the venue is no coincidence—we want jazz of this caliber to resonate in a place that is open and close to the people.
