Freestyle Football World Championships in Sopot
In just one month, Sopot will host the grand finals of the Freestyle Football World Championships, which will take place on December 13, 2025, at the ERGO ARENA. The tournament will feature the sport's best athletes, who have passed the demanding continental qualifications of the WFFA Pulse series. Athletes will travel to Sopot from 19 countries around the world.
Sopot's awarding of the right to host a tournament of this caliber is a result of the exemplary organization of the European Championships, which took place in the resort in the summer of 2024.
"We are very excited to be returning to Sopot," said Lukáš Škoda, Head of Operations at WFFA. "The WFFA Pulse European Championships, which we organized here last year thanks to the invaluable support of the city, the Sopot Tourist Organization, and MOSiR, was a tremendous success. We can't wait to repeat it in an even bigger, more magnificent setting." The Freestyle Football World Championships will attract the best freestylers from around the world," added Lukáš Škoda.
"It's a source of pride for us that this spectacular sport is returning to Sopot, and at the World Championship level. Last June, we hosted the biggest European and global freestyle football stars for the first time. I hope that the December tournament at ERGO ARENA will attract an even larger audience and complement the winter calendar of sporting events taking place in Sopot," says Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, Mayor of Sopot.
"Once again, we will be hosting the best players in this spectacular sport in Sopot. The players will be here for almost a week, and for us, it's a great opportunity to showcase the city's tourism potential during the so-called low season. We will take care of every detail of their visit, as we hope that information about Sopot will reach every continent through their social media." Each of these athletes boasts thousands of followers on popular social media channels," said Bartłomiej Barski, president of the Sopot Tourism Organization.
In Sopot, 32 athletes (16 women and 16 men) from 19 countries around the world, including such distant ones as Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Japan, South Korea, and Iran, will showcase their extraordinary talent and skills.
For many years, among the world's top athletes, there have also been representatives from the Old Continent, led by Agnieszka "Aguśka" Mnich. The 30-year-old Pole is a multiple world champion and is thrilled to be competing for another title in Poland. "Freestyle football is wonderful. If you love doing handstands, you do handstands. No one is forcing anything on you. You do what you love; you're essentially shaping the sport." I'm happy and doubly motivated to win the world championship title again here in Sopot, in this fantastic arena, with the cheering of Polish fans. I encourage you to support these players! – says the popular "Aguśka."
Before the final tournament at ERGO ARENA, the players will be involved in meetings with children and young people from Sopot schools. At these meetings, they will not only showcase their talents and skills, but will also – in keeping with the slogan of the World Freestyle Football Federation, "All you need is a ball" – encourage physical activity, which requires only a ball and a flat surface.
