We invite you for a walk around Sopot with Agnieszka Lasota
We invite you to join us for December walks around Sopot with Agnieszka Lasota - #architectguide. Two walking routes are available: the first is a story about the extraordinary village that was Sopot, and the second is a new route, "Sopot Artists and Art in Sopot (2nd Half of the 20th Century)".
Routes:
Route One:"A Story about the Extraordinary Village that was Sopot"
What kind of village was Sopot? You might think that Sopot was originally a fishing village and therefore stretched across the area now known as Lower Sopot. But that wasn't the case... There were marshes down there. And Sopot? What a village it was!... What places, what charm, what stories! What a multitude of streams flowing through this village! ...where have they all gone? How many manors were there in Sopot during those centuries when Sopot was still a village? Who did they belong to? Which kings stayed in Sopot, where, and why? Which manor house was entrenched in a water-filled moat in the 17th century, and why? Can it be seen today? How can we recognize the architecture of the village era, such as that associated with the 19th-century spa town, and which buildings date from the first half of the 20th century?! What colors were used in the buildings we pass? What are historical colors? You'll learn all this during the walk, allowing you to further explore Sopot on your own.
Difficulty level: easy.
Dates: December 6, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM, December 20, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM.
Tour guide: #architectguide Agnieszka LasotaCost: 20 PLN/person.

The focus will be primarily on the post-war period, including areas and topics related to the Sopot School and the people who formed it.In addition to topics related to the Sopot School, we will also see, among other places, the work of Bogdan Mirowski (a self-taught jeweler-artist, creator of the Amber Nightingale) and the work of Per Oscar Gustav Dahlberg (whose work inspired the architects to "create" the Crooked House). Plus, Jacek Staniszewski, Robert Florczak, Ala Gruca, and Wojtek Strzelecki, the current "residents" of Sopot's Montmartre.
