Sea Planet series of meetings Feeling | 11/12/2025

The last meeting ahead of us, ending the Sea Planet series.

In the first part, we looked at scientific, artistic, activist and business perspectives on the basic concepts related to the sea, including: space, waves, sand and atmosphere.

In the second cycle, people from various scientific and creative communities confronted problems related to the assessment of values related to the sea, which include ecosystem goods and services. We reflected on the heritage of the seas and oceans, as well as the potential of the undiscovered. It is also worth recalling that when discussing the relationship between man and the sea, an important aspect of maritime feminism was touched upon.

Meetings of the Sea Planet took place in the spaces of exhibitions exploring 'water' qualities, such as Anna Baumgart's exhibition Zakop, the sculpture of Apollo, or We Want All Life. Feminisms in Polish art. The final version is immersed in the Down deep exhibition. Living seas, living bodies and, just like its title, offers us the concept of the sea, perceived as an organism. Movement, breathing, growth and FEELING are the features manifested by the smallest cell of a living body. The meeting will be attended by the artist Bogna Burska, Ph.D. Anna Filipowicz from the Department of Literary Theory and Art Criticism at the University of Gdańsk and prof. Ph.D. Jan Marcin Węsławski, marine ecologist from the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It is also worth mentioning that Bogna Burska has previously collaborated with Professor Węsławski and scientists from the IO PAN, which resulted in her exhibition "Breathe", which can currently be seen at CSW Łaźnia in Gdańsk.
